Odylique by Essential care concealer review

I have been on the hunt for a creamy concealer with good ingredients for some time now, the problem is always the same, there is very little choice available to me locally and I have to rely on buying on line.

This is where blog posts from fellow bloggers that you trust are a brilliant way to find new products, I read Evelyn's (from We were raised by Wolves) blog post link here on this concealer and was totally sold. It was Evelyn's photos of the product in particular that really helped with colour selection as I always like to see swatches before buying on line.

Essential care are a brand I have spoken about before, they are a Soil Association certified British company that has a wide selection of skin care and have now developed a fantastic make up range. Good organic make up is something that I want to incorporate more of into my routine so having tried their skincare I was hoping that the make up would be just as good, and it didn't disappoint.

This concealer comes in a stick format and contains 100% natural ingredients 76% of the ingredients are organic, which is incredibly impressive. The colour selection is quite limited as it only comes in light or medium so unfortunately darker skins are not catered for but I am hoping that it might change in the future.

I chose the colour light and it is perfect for my fair skin, it does lean towards the yellow side in terms of colour, but for covering dark circles and blemishes that is a plus. This is the first concealer that I have successfully used under my eyes and on my face to cover redness and blemishes and it is currently the only cream concealer in my makeup bag.

Evelyn mentioned in her post that she uses the Real techniques deluxe crease brush to blend this under the eyes, as I already had it in my collection this is what I have been using and it is perfect for this formulation. When using this on my face I find that if I use the warmth of my fingers to blend the formulation melts into the skin and looks really natural.

I couple of months ago I developed a stubborn dry and itchy patch of skin under my right eye and I was starting to suspect that my previous concealer may be aggravating the problem, after using this for about four weeks it has completely cleared up, I suspect that is due to the lovely ingredients such as calendula and coconut oil. It is definitely a make up item with skincare benefits.

The packaging is corn based so no petrochemicals and entirely recyclable. The outer sleeve is printed in the UK from FSC approved card by a carbon neutral company.

The way I have been using this is by applying straight from the bullet under the eyes and buffing in with the Real techniques brush and setting with Lily Lolo's silk setting powder, using that combination it stays in place for about 7 hours in this cold weather. When it fades in fades evenly and it is easy to reapply if you need to.

For blemishes and redness I apply with a clean finger and then let it sit on the skin for a couple of minutes before applying my mineral foundation over the top. I would say it is a medium coverage, I use it by itself on an everyday basis but if I need extra coverage I use a small amount of mineral powder concealer over the top.

You can shop the Odylique concealer here.

    1. It's a lovely product and I think it's really well priced too, Packaging is really practical, as much as I like the look of the rms I wouldn't want to travel with a heavy glass jar. x

  4. This does sound a good product it is difficult to find a natural concealer that works :-)
Looking at the colour I think it will be just too yellow based for me as I am super pale which is a shame but at least I've seen it and saved myself some money :-)

  6. I have to agree with you 100% on this! It's now the only concealer in my makeup bag. It's also the only product that has made me look less of a panda after being ill! Definitely value for money on this one! I also find it works fine when blended with my fingers, over the top of my moisturiser xx
