New Launch: 001 Skincare

This week saw the launch of a new skincare brand in the UK and I have to say it has left quite a first impression on me. The brand is 001 (Double zero one) which was created by Aromatherapist and beauty therapist Ada Ooi. Ada was inspired to create the line from her experiences of growing up in Hong Hong where the cutting edge architecture is juxtaposed with centuries of culture, so the range draws on the best from traditional apothecary methods and science which is incredibly appealing.

Housed in the sleek black miron glass bottles the range has a team of botanists and bio-chemists who contribute and who are passionate about creating hybrid technologies. I have been trying two products, one from the Classic range: the GLA and Anti-oxidant balancing cream and one from the Precious finds range: the Pure active peel.

The GLA and antioxidant balancing cream (£42 for 50 mls) is a light cream packed with essential fatty acids and anti-oxidants which is designed to balance the skin. Combination skins will love the lightness of this product and all the lovely active botanicals such as Fennel, witch hazel and Melissa leaf work hard to bring balance to the skin, this has gone straight on my summer skin prep list, but for now it feels lovely combined with a facial oil or serum.

The Pure active peel (£50 for 50 mls) is a product which is for me quite simply life changing, rarely does a product have an instantaneous effect on my skin but this is the closest thing you will get to a facial at home. This is a peel which uses fruit enzymes from pineapple and AHA's from sugar as a deep cleansing and ex-foliating treatment. You apply a layer all over the face, it is a little fiddly due to the texture but the results are absolutely worth it, leave it on for five minutes and gently rub it in to the skin before rinsing with water. I was left with the softest brightest skin I have ever had, this melts away dead skin cells and makes any treatments you put on afterwards work extra hard. My sample is 10 mls and I have already used it three times with plenty left in the jar so well worth it, I will be reaching for this weekly as well as using it to help me to prepared for special occasions.

The full range is available at 001. The Intensive Elixir has made a big splash this week with some amazing reviews both from I am in to this and Beauty balm and I think this brand will continue to make waves because results this good make it a must have.

  1. A lovely review of both products. I had the Pure Active Peel in my abw A/W '13 box but have yet to use it. I have so many other bits to use first but it gets more and more tempting to use with each review I see of it! x
