Some current winter skincare favourites

There is no hiding the fact that I am an absolute skincare junkie, I write about it far more than make up and I love having a stash of skincare that I can dip in to depending on what my skin is telling me it needs. As the weather gets colder it is certainly telling me it needs moisture, so you will see a theme in today's skincare favourites and that is that all of these products add a really nice amount moisture to the skin, banishing the winter blues.
Lyonsleaf Beauty balm Is a gorgeous waterless moisturiser that contains babassu oil and calendula extract see review (here) the more I use this product the more I like it, it is a total bargain price for a product that works so well and it leaves the skin soft, smooth and hydrated. I am using this as a night cream and I will be buying another jar of this as soon as I have finished the pot that was sent to me for review.

Bodhi and Birch Desert Rose Rejuvenating facial oil It has been a long time since I have talked about this oil in fact I first tried a sample of it and it was the first Bodhi product I reviewed alongside Jasmine falls. I can honestly say I liked this when I first tried it, but over time I have grown to absolutely love it. I have worked my way through a couple of sample sizes from gift sets and am now using a full sized bottle. If you are expecting a straight up rose scent this has a bit of a surprise in store because it is a lovely woodsy slightly spicy scent thanks to the sandalwood and Myrrh with the rose notes coming through at the end. This oil contains everything you need to make your skin glow this winter.

Unique naturals Elixir of Youth What's that I hear you say, another oil? Well I struggled to narrow it down to two as my current oil rotation is full of gorgeous blends, but this is another oil which I felt deserved another mention. This oil is one I always reach for if I want to give my skin a little bit of extra help in the glow department, name a gorgeous oil with anti-ageing benefits and this blend has it, Rosehip, pomegranate and Argan to name just a few. This is a keeper all year round but my skin adores it in this cold weather (Sadly discontinued!)

Natural Wisdom Rose and Pomegranate liquid anti-oxidant exfoliator Not strictly a hydration product by itself but this is something of a hidden gem in my skincare regime and one which I really should have shared with you sooner, you see this is my second bottle and since using it my skin over time has gradually become less congested and much brighter. This toner comes in a spray miron glass bottle and contains fruit acids, Vitamin C and aloe vera to gently exfoliate and brighten the skin. I have sensitive skin and whilst I have tried other liquid exfoliators before none have stuck in my rotation because I didn't feel they were quite gentle enough for me, but this one is perfect. I owe this lovely bottle a review of it's own because it really is an effective product and it makes a big difference to the condition of my skin (Sadly discontinued!)

Indie Lee Calendula eye balm I often forget to up the hydration around the eye area in winter leading to dry patches of skin, this winter I am well prepared with this gorgeous eye balm from American brand Indie Lee. From the moment I saw this the ingredients list told me I must try it and it hasn't disappointed, the Avocado oil, mango see butter and calendula in the formulation are keeping my peepers hydrated and brightening up my dark circles all with the smallest amount of product, full review of this will follow.

Bathing Beauty Balaclava (Review here) Is the product I reach for when I am going to be outdoors in cold weather, I apply a generous layer of this to cleansed skin and it does a brilliant job of protecting the skin from the cold, even after spending part of the day in minus temperatures I didn't get a single dry patch. This morning I applied before going out to do jobs in the garden and this afternoon my face still feels really soft, if you live in a cold climate this product is a must have. The combination of Avocado and borage and peach kernel oil is perfect for deeply nourishing without being heavy.

I would love to know, what skincare are you currently loving to get you through winter?

  1. Absolutely love this post Ana. I struggle in the winter because I want to protect my skin from the cold weather but my blemish prone skin can't handle anything too heavy! I've been trying out Unique Naturals Nuture oil and think it's been doing quite a nice job on these chilly days :) Really intrigued about liquid exfoliator, my skin can really be a bit funny about acidic products at times too.
