Everyday essentials: The Neutral lip

Whilst I do like a brighter lip, on an everyday basis I am quite wedded to some of my more neutral options. These three products are all easy to wear, work well for my skin tone and I find I can pull them off with little make up on the rest of my face, anyone else find some colours you really need to have some blush or bronzer on to avoid looking like a zombie? I don't have that issue with these. If I am at work or just doing the school run I will often just pop on some concealer, powder and a slick of something on the lips.

These three are all very different price points too meaning whatever your budget hopefully you will find something you like. I am quite fair but have dark hair and brows, I find that a nude with some pink suits me best:

Starting with the most expensive I really like the RMS Lip shine in Bloom, it is described as youthful neutral pink, I actually find this to be more of neutral colour than I was expecting when I bought it. It is a glossy "my lips but better" with a deeply hydrating formula, it is almost more of a lip gloss than a lipstick but it is great for those days when make up feels like a bit too much hassle but I still want to have something on the lips. I still wish I had bought one of the brighter shades such as Sacred, but I do use this a lot and like it.

Next up is this lovely lippy in shade 06 Terra, from brand Alterra, this was a kind gift from Evelyn from We were raised by Wolves quite a while back when she went to Germany. I can't quite believe I haven't mentioned this lipstick before because I love it! It's a great neutral with just enough pink and brown in it. I don't know much about the brand or the ingredients other than it is BDIH certified and I think this brand is pretty readily available in other European countries, sadly I can't find this over here and I will be very sad when it runs out, but if you are lucky enough to have a stockist do take a look at these, they are creamy, pigmented and last on the lips as well as being very budget friendly, I would happily buy a back up (or two) if I could.

Last one is the Une Lip toned lip colour I have shade L02 and mine is very nearly finished, so has been well loved. This is a little more neutral than the others but is still very wearable I bought this ages ago when UNE was still available in Boots, unfortunately I couldn't find this exact shade to link but Fragrance Direct have some of the colours really reduced so if you like the look it's worth picking some up. Again this has a creamy formula, I can't stand anything too drying and this is fine to wear without lip balm.

What's your favourite everyday lip product?

  5. I have one of the UNE lip toned colours too, although I can't remember which one. It's a little too brown on me for most days but it actually makes for a really nice cream blush too (try it!)

    1. The cream blushes are also very pretty, like you say they are very wearable colours and if it's good enough for Lisa Eldridge it's good enough for me :) Xx
