NOTD: Zoya's Rue

It's been an age since I last did a nail of the day, I have a couple of new polishes to share with you starting with this little number from Zoya. I picked up Zoya's Rue (£10.50) when I was in Wholefoods in London, the colour looked perfect for pairing with cosy jumpers and knitwear, really cosy. It's from the Natural collection I couldn't find it in stock in any of the usual stockists such as Love Lula or Lucy Rose but you can get it on-line on their site. I have to admit to finding Zoya polishes a bit hit and miss in terms of formulation, but I am thrilled with this one, it is opaque in two coats and easy to apply, the colour also looks good on my short nails as I can't have them too long for work. Zoya describe this as a boudoir blush cream, for me it is a nude with pink/lilac undertones, it looks flattering on and I really like the colour on my Skin tone. I get 3-4 days no chipping with a top coat from this varnish sometimes more but I do generally really abuse my nails. Zoya are 5 free in their formulation meaning they avoid some of the most common "iffy" chemicals. I would love to hear, what Zoya colours are you loving at the moment?

  1. Love that colour! I agree with you on some formulations...I had a yellow one and its rubbish but at the minute I am loving Spencer from their new A/W range!

    1. I will check Spencer out! I have had a couple that were too thick to use even with the thinner they do, shame really Xx

  2. I have quite a few zoya polishes.. i really like the colors because they are thick and go on sometimes with just one coat but sometimes i have a hard time making the more natural and neutral colors (like light pinks and more shear formulas) to look good and not streaky... over all i really like zoya! The price point is good and you can't beat the color selection.

  3. What a pretty, unique color. I love neutrals and darker hues in the fall and this one will be a beautiful addition to my nail Polish collection. And Zoya has so many color selections at an affordable price! Thanks for sharing.

  4. Rue was my first polish from Zoya and I love it to bits! Maybe it's just me, but I find it a little thick and streaky during application. I usually have to do 3 coats to get it all even and smooth. :)

    1. I think there must be variation between batches because I have found that with other polishes of theirs, Gaia is an amazing colour but you need 5 coats to make it show how I would like... still love their shades though! :) Xx
