Bodhi and Birch Rosa Rosa skincare review

In August I made the journey to London to attend the Bodhi and Birch Rosa Rosa launch which you can read about here. It's no secret that I have a lot of love for this brand, aside from the excellent quality of the products I love to support a British brand that is innovative in it's use of natural ingredients. I came away from the event with the gorgeous Rosa Rosa gift-set* (Special price of £80 which means a £15 saving compared to buying the products individually) which comes beautifully boxed and would make a lovely gift. As October is Breast cancer awareness month Bodhi and Birch are donating all of the proceeds from these limited edition sets to Breast Cancer care, simply amazing and puts other larger companies to shame who generally only donate a very small proportion of their profits. In addition to that you can be assured that you are supporting a company that is making products with healthy ingredients and with respect for the planet.

Just like every Bodhi and Birch product the Rosa Rosa line is not just skincare but a sensory experience, the scents are far more subtle than the body care line but their presence still makes me inhale deeply and make your skincare routine a ritual rather than a chore. It's always important to carve out time for yourself and this beautiful line certainly encourages me to do just that.

Starting with the Rosa Rosa clarifying cleanser* (£32 for 150 mls), when I wrote about the event I described this as a gel cream and I think that description is still the best one I can think of. You only need one pump per cleanse, I like to take a few drops of water and mix with the light cream before massaging on to my face. The scent is so heavenly, whilst I will be the first to recognise scent doesn't necessarily change the way a product works it certainly has a big influence on how you feel and this cleanser never fails to cheer me up. I especially love to use this as a morning cleanse as it is exceptionally cooling and soothing on the skin which is lovely as most mornings by the time it comes to washing my face I am already a little flustered. The ingredients as you would expect from a Bodhi and Birch product are beautiful, it foams very gently without harsh surfactants and instead uses gentler coconut derived alternatives. This cleanser can be used by all skin types, despite my dry and sensitive skin this always leaves the complexion looking fresh and never stripped, but I can also imagine combination skins will love the texture and feel too. Other ingredients include cocoa seed butter, Meadowfarm seed oil, Shea Butter, Rosehip and of course a beautiful mix of essential oils. Camomile, Frankincense, Ylang Ylang and Rose. For me this cleanser was the surprise stand out, I didn't expect it to be but it's nice to be surprised every now and again.

To follow the cleanser you have the Rosa Rosa Hydrating toner* (£28 for 100 mls) I think this is the product I seem to have used the least of but that is because this is a really concentrated toner. If I was going abroad to a warm humid climate I would be packing this in my carry on case, I really do find this hydrating and soothing, so much so that in hot weather you wouldn't need much more on your skin. This is a lovely mix of organic floral waters from Rose, Camomile and Orange blossom as well as aloe vera and witch hazel, an interesting fact is that this toner is in fact completely edible and it tastes quite sweet and aromatic, I have to say though it's too good to drink I reserve mine for my face! The toner comes in a spray bottle so you can spray it directly on the skin, it doesn't deliver the finest mist like some of my other toners but it also is gentler than some others which come out with quite a lot of force, it sits somewhere in the middle and I find one or two sprays more than enough for the whole face and neck.

The final product is the Rosa Rosa Daily moisturiser* (£35 for 50 mls) which is designed for normal to dry skins, if you have combination skin you can substitute the moisturiser with the Neroli Luce facial oil. Whilst this moisturiser is designed for normal to dry skins, it is still formulated to be quite light in texture and has for me a fairly matte finish. I like this moisturiser on it's own however I much prefer it with a drop or two of oil mixed in, I used the last of my Desert rose samples with it but it also mixes well with other oils, especially a drop of rosehip or Argan to give a more dewy finish. Coconut oil, Shea butter and Meadowfarm oils provide the nourishment whilst the beautiful blend essential oils is calming for the mind and help to renew skins vitality. I find this to be a great moisturiser at a reasonable price, it has a nice brightening and uplifting effect on the skin that makes you look that little bit more awake when you use it.

Rosa Rosa has a luxury feel but at an affordable price point and like all Bodhi and Birch products is formulated with utmost care and attention. These products make taking of your skin a daily ritual to savour whilst also retaining the simplicity of a three step routine, they have been a joy to use and I am sure will bring my skin much happiness for months to come as the products last a long time making them good value. Have you tried the new Rosa Rosa, if so I would love to hear what you think!

**Please note that due to the preservative system these products are not suitable for Vegans**

  6. The toner is my favourite! I got the moisturiser in my goody bag which unfortunately isn't right for my skin-type so I've passed that onto my other sister but Elijah got in touch with me and sent me both the Cleanser & the Toner...isn't he just the most generous person ever!? Great review Ana xx
