Lily Lolo Review: Lip gloss and mineral blush

I do believe Lily Lolo were one of the first (if not THE first!) make up brands that I explored when I first started to stray away from the high street. Since then their products have been a constant for me, I adore their blushes (See here) and their affordable price point and good ingredients means that I keep coming back again and again. A little while ago when they changed their packaging they sent a few items to try and I think it's high time I shared my opinions with you.

Starting with their Super Kabuki* (£14.99), this is a lovely and soft but at the same time quite chunky in size Kabuki brush, it applies mineral foundation very well and I can say after months of washing does not shed any hairs. As this is quite densely packed you do have to take care to wash it well but the synthetic fibres come up really nice and clean with just a drop shampoo or Dr Bronner's soap swirled in your hand and massaged in to the brush and rinsed well. The metallic base sits well in your hand and the black metal stays nice, I have owned a Lily Lolo Kabuki previously that was white and sadly didn't last nearly as well, so I think the brand have made sure that these will last the distance which is great. I prefer this for foundation but I have also used it for bronzer and even blush, it's versatile and I think a very good buy. You can build up a nice level of coverage with this, for spot concealing I go in with something smaller but for general application this is great!

The mineral lip-gloss in Bitten Pink* (£7.99) is described as a ruby rich pink with shimmer highlights. You can see swatches below both on the hand and on the lips but I find it to be a pretty perfect pink colour, pigmented enough to wear alone but subtle enough to also layer over lipstick. I am incredibly fussy when it comes to lip gloss, most are either too sticky, too gritty or too shiny and I have wasted a fair amount of money over the years on them, Lily Lolo lip glosses are the only ones I will use now, they are the perfect consistency, nourishing and glossy without being sticky, they smell of chocolate and I love the colours, I have used up several previously and can't find anything I like better on the market so these are staying put in my make up bag.

Last but not least the mineral blush in the shade Candy girl* (£7.99) the biggest change in the packaging is that these now have a lockable sifter which makes them more convenient for travelling. In terms of colour, pigmentation and lasting power I love this shade just as much as the others I have tried, you only need a really small amount for a very pretty and healthy flush. This is a light, blue toned pink that I think would be very flattering on a variety of skin tones but looks lovely on pale skin like mine. It has a gorgeous very fine shimmer to it that means you don't need a highlight with this blush, you can just see in the photo below hopefully how the blush has a glow but is not glittery when it catches the light. For a make up item that can potentially last a couple of years I think the price is a total bargain, the only draw back is that this is a loose powder form  and I know some people find it a bit messy but the brand has also launched pressed versions if that is important to you.

Lily Lolo are Buav Approved as cruelty free, talc free, paraben free and bismuth oxychloride free, they have a wide range of products, some are vegan but not all as some contain carmine, beeswax or lanolin, each product has full ingredients listed on the site so go there for more details!

What are your Lily Lolo favourites? I have my eye firmly on their new eye shadow palettes!

  4. Your hair and your skin look so plump and nice! I have yet to try Lily Lolo.. I heard a lot of good comments about their lipsticks. Have you tried them? The color of the lipgloss and the blush look so nice on you. I'm also not a lip gloss girl because it's either too sticky or too runny. My favorite is RMS Lip Shine though, they are the perfect consistency like how you have described the lip gloss here. I would love to try the Lily Lolo lip gloss now!

    1. I haven't tried the lipsticks yet although I am going to treat myself soon, the lipgloss is similar the the RMS lip shines, not exact but feels almost like a balm rather than gloss, I prefer the Lily Lolo for application on the go as you have no dipping in the pot! Xx
