Luxury Beauty: Vintner's Daughter Active Botanical Serum

If there is one beauty product that I would struggle to give up it's a good facial oil, my skin responds to oils extremely well, as someone with sensitive skin that definitely leans to the drier side especially in winter I use oils every day, twice a day and I adore the results. Add to my love of oils my love of a beautiful botanical ingredients lists for me to feast my eyes on and you can see why this gorgeous Active Botanical serum* from Vintners Daughter ($185 for 30 mls) has made me incredibly exited. This little miron glass bottle is loaded up with a whopping 22 botanicals that my skin has been adoring.

Vintners Daughter was created by April Gargiulo who like many skincare entrepreneurs was disillusioned when she started to investigate what was in her products and set about creating a wonderful serum with lot's of skin benefits. This serum contains some of my favourite ingredients and there is something about the combination that just makes my skin glow, there is no denying this is a pricey product but using a small amount at a time means this is an investment in good skin that will last you some time. All of the serum's ingredients are organic and wild-crafted sourced from conscious growers around the world. This serum has a base of grapeseed and hazelnut oils, given the name of the brand it is only fitting that grapes would be an essential part of the formula, there is also Tamanu oil, Sea Buckthorn, carrot, Rosehip, Calendula, Avocado and Alfalfa all with their own regenerative and healing properties, Rosehip in particular is great for scarring and fading marks on the skin and calendula is well known for it's soothing properties. As you can see this serum is a powerhouse of good ingredients, every time I look at the list I find another ingredient I love! A couple of the lesser known and used oils that caught my eye were Dandelion, Turmeric and Nettle. Turmeric is well known for it's anti-inflammatory abilities, Dandelion is dense in phytonutrient's and nettle is rich is vitamin A. The fragrance was developed with essential oils that not only have their own individual skincare benefits but that were also put together by a perfumer to ensure the product is the very definition of luxury, it is simply beautiful. Neroli, Jasmine and Frankincense are three of my favourite essential oils and they are all featured in this blend.

This oil is a real treat I reach for it whenever I need to get my skin glowing fast, I also love to add a drop or two to my BB cream to give my skin some extra nourishment and a healthy sheen. Truth is given the ingredients I couldn't not love this oil, April has created something very special and I am very happy to have discovered this. Every time I use this oil my skin looks that little bit brighter, fresher and even toned, simply exquisite.

  1. This sounds truly exquisite but the price point, ouch! Another one to add to my long list of purchases when I get a job! Everything will happen when I get a job haha! I'm totally with you on facial oils Ana, my skin loves them and I am currently using one with sea buckthorn and carrot which my skin is just relishing so seeing that on the ingredients list for Vintner's Daughter made me happy, it's quite possible I would enjoy this oil. Do you use it everyday and how long do you think a bottle will last? On a different note, soon running out of my cream cleanser and will be purchasing deMamiel's as per your recommendation! Hope my skin gets on with it! Is there a particular skin type that wouldn't fare well with balm cleansers, do you think? Apologies for the 20 questions haha! Lovely review as always Ana xx

    1. It's definitely not a budget oil but ml per ml it is cheaper than something like May Lindstrom the Youth dew as you get more oil for your money. I use a couple of drops daily at least, I do use other facial oils too though, I am not a one facial oil kinda of gal ;) I think it will last at least 4-6 months used every day if not a little more, I do find I need less of this than other oils as it is so concentrated. As for the balm cleanser question, whilst I am by no means a skincare expert there seems to be lot's of people who are who say oil cleansing is great for all skin types, Andy from Pampered Prince and Caroline Hirons are a couple I can think of, my only advice would be make sure you use a decent flannel and remove well, also listen to your skin don't overload it with product afterwards if you don't need it as the oil cleansing is moisturising already, PS if you don't like it now I will feel very guilty!! Ha ha! :) Xx

    1. I did do a sharp inhale of breath when I saw the price but it is not much different to some of the other high end brands available, when most of them you only get 20 mls or even 15 mls. I have facial oils I like in all price points but this one gives me a glow like no other! Xx

    1. Too many great beauty products and too little time to try everything, yes I think with the focus moving away fro Argan slightly other oils get to have their time in the spotlight Xx

  10. Do you know if these blend of oils can help with melasma on the face. I'm still trying to get rid of some spots on my face.
    Thanks

    1. Some of the oils could help with hyperpigmentation but I would look for a blend that is specifically for melasma. I am afraid it's not something I have an issue with so haven't got any recommendations.

  11. The list of the ingredients sound soooo gooooood! Lots of ingredients that my skin would typically like. Wish there's a sample of this to try before splurging. Appreciate the ingredient breakdown, very useful! Can you explain more about the texture and do you use this everyday or when you just need an extra glow?

    1. I remember reading on the site that you can order a sample size first although you do have to pay, I find the texture fairly light and easily absorbed but typically my skin drinks up most oils, I use this everyday and often just add a couple of drops at the end of my routine for the glow it gives Xx
