Clean make up made easy with RMS Beauty

RMS Beauty was one of the first natural make up brands that really caught my eye and one that still continues to be included in my daily and weekly make up routines.

RMS stands for Rosa Marie Swift, the creator of the line and a make up artist for over 35 years. RMS beauty was born from Rosa Marie's very own aha moment, she was experiencing health problems and during some tests she was found to have high levels of heavy metals and other substances in her body. When the technician asked her if she worked in the cosmetics industry she was shocked to make the association, leading her to develop her own line of products without the ingredients that had caused her problems.

For me there are several things that make RMS beauty stand out. The first thing that attracts me to the line is the beautiful selection of colours, Rosa Marie's extensive experience really shows here, the colours are beautiful and range from classic and universally flattering to bold and on trend. Secondly you only have to take a look at RMS on social media to see that Rosa Marie is truly passionate about creating a range that is healthy and that women love to use. RMS products come minimally packaged in recyclable glass jars making them great for anyone trying to lead a more zero waste life.

Something else which makes RMS stand out is the ingredients used, not only do they use organic ingredients but also food grade ingredients with minimal processing, in essence this is make up that is designed to be good for the skin. One of the key ingredients used is raw, virgin, organic coconut oil, which has anti-microbial and anti-bacterial properties and unlike a lot of other brands RMS don't use any heat to process the coconut oil meaning the natural properties are preserved.

I have two gorgeous RMS products to show you, although these colours are new to me the products themselves are absolute staples in my make up bag for their quality, versatility and how long they last too.

RMS Lip to cheek - Modest (£28 for 4.25 grams) Is a creamy dose of colour for lips and cheeks. When applied to the cheeks these blends seamlessly with the skin and thanks to the oil content of the product isn't ever cakey or heavy. You only need a dab on each cheek meaning these last a really long time and they are my most reached for product in the mornings when I don't have a lot of time. On the lip they are comfortable to wear and I find best applied lightly like a stain. They come in a total of nine shades in total, Modest is described as a "Fresh, rich berry pink" but you can see on the swatch below that it is more brown with a berry undertone compared to the virtual swatch. I think Modest is a really classic, wearable colour and although it isn't talked about as much as some of the other RMS shades it is one of my favourites especially for Autumn/Winter as it looks fantastic with a deep berry lip. If you have oilier skin and need to boost the longevity of the lip to cheek when using as a blush, I find setting with a very light amount of translucent RMS Un-Powder works well.

RMS Beauty Lip shine - Sacred (£17 for 5.67 grams) RMS lip shines are a cross between a tinted lip balm and a gloss that feels gorgeous on the lips. On a daily basis I wear bloom which is a pinky nude but I had been wanting to try Sacred for some time and I love the punchy colour it gives to the lips. I find Sacred to be a really wearable bright, both in formula and colour and think it is extremely flattering. I wear sacred when I want to brighten my face without too much effort, because the red with pink undertones really work well. If you apply one layer you get a light layer of glossy colour, but sacred can be built up with a second layer for a more opaque finish. I find Sacred wears longer than some of the lighter lip shines and leaves a slight stain behind.

I don't think there is any doubt that RMS is a more high end brand with prices to match, but I find these make up products last an incredibly long time, so if you find a colour you are going to use a lot I think they are worth the investment. All the RMS products I have tried have high quality ingredients, beautiful colours and are easy to apply. You can purchase these products from Love Lula who offer free international shipping and stock over 200 brands.
