Autumn for me comes with it's own particular skin challenges and needs. It's also a time when darker evenings means more time to indulge in a hot bath and some pampering to keep everything in check. I have been testing lot's of Autumn appropriate products, look out for a big face balm comparison coming very soon, but this little edit is some of the best Autumn products that are all available at natural and organic beauty boutique Love Lula.
Ermana Nurture Body oil - (£28 for 50 mls) I just adore using a body oil after a bath or shower in the evening. I find doing so daily really helps to keep skin well hydrated and soft. This body oil from Ermana has been a lovely discovery, it has a gorgeous slightly woodsy scent thanks to Neroli, Petitgrain and Ylang Ylang essential oils. It uses apricot and macadamia oils to nourish the skin and you really don't need a lot for each use. This blend is particularly well suited to dry skin and is a great addition to any routine for the winter months.
Kimberley Sayer Gentle Almond and Lavender Face scrub - (£21.60 for 60 mls) At this time of year I often look for gentle exfoliating options and this face scrub ticks all the right boxes. It uses almond meal, jojoba beads and oat beta glucan to gently renew the skin whilst Shea butter and safflower oil hydrate. I like to gently buff this over clean skin as a second cleanse and then leave it on for around five minutes to let the ingredients sink in slightly, making it a scrub and mask in one. It smells simply divine, just like marzipan and is fabulous on dry skin.
Pommade Divine Nature's Remedy balm - (£19.80 for 50 mls) This multi-purpose healing remedy was first created by the Royal's family chemist in the 1800's. It is one of those brilliant, versatile formulas that every home needs, good on dry skin, on minor burns and grazes or simply as a very lovely hand or foot balm. It smells incredible thanks to a blend of nutmeg, clove and cinnamon, very seasonal! It is lighter than some of the other multi-purpose balms I have tried but still extremely softening, making it just a brilliant all round product.
Herbfarmacy Melissa Lip Nurse - (£5 for 6 grams) The Herbfarmacy Melissa Lip nurse has been my secret weapon against chapped and sore lips for years now, in fact it was one of the first products I reviewed from the brand and I still think it's one of the best. Herbfarmacy is obviously known for it's use of herbs and this balm contains Marshmallow, Mullein and Lemon Balm which make it fantastic for softening and protecting the lips. Great for use when you have a cold or popping in your handbag as a daily staple, this is an affordable but utterly brilliant product.
Organic Surge Overnight sensation night cream - (£12.50 for 50 mls) I don't always feel a separate night cream is needed, especially in the summer months, but as the weather gets colder I feel my skin really appreciates that extra layer. The Overnight sensation night cream from Organic surge is easily one of the best budget friendly night creams, especially for skin that is slightly dry or sensitised. It feels really nourishing but not thick or heavy on the skin, so layers well with face oils and other serums. It contains Shea butter, Aloe Vera and Cocoa Butter and is lightly scented with lavender to soothe. I have used quite a few jars of this product over the years and find the formula reliable and a pleasure to apply.
MOA Magic Organic Apothecary Fortifying bath potion - (£27.50 for 100 mls) The Fortifying bath potion from MOA really is a glorious product, the bracing and stimulating essential oil blend with peppermint, fennel, birch and fir will clear a fuzzy head or blocked nose easily. The most perfect product for cold season, I have tested this whilst feeling quite unwell and it really helps you to feel brighter. You only need a capful or two of this in a hot bath, be warned it is strong and definitely not one for sensitive skin. I also like to pour a small amount in to my hand and inhale in a hot shower as the steam works perfectly with the essential oils.
