Seaweed Organics skincare

I have long thought there to be something wonderfully therapeutic about the sea, some of my happiest childhood memories are from summers spent on the beach.
When I saw this organic skincare range I was instantly attracted to the beautiful sea green glass packaging but after further research I soon discovered it isn’t just the packaging of the brand that is inspired by the sea but also it’s ingredients.

The brand says:

“Seaweed Organics has grown out of our passionate commitment to harnessing the goodness of seaweed to create simple, but high performance skincare products”

A specially selected blend of seaweed is wild harvested by hand around the coast of Scotland. The seaweed provides a vitamins, minerals and trace elements in a form easily absorbed by our bodies. Seaweed is added to the ranges creams and lotions as well as being available in powdered form. I have been testing two products from the range:

Restoring facial oil This is lovely blend of oils, light and easily absorbed with a lovely fragrance. It contains organic safflower oil as it’s main ingredient along with jojoba, borage, rosehip, sea buckthorn and vitamin E. I am a big fan of facial oils and I will confess to having a quite a collection but I have been reaching for this lovely oil often. I am impressed with the quality especially considering the price, as many oils I have are far more expensive. I personally have sensitive skin but due to the lightness this is one of those oils that I think most skin types would enjoy.

Seaweed skin food This is a gorgeous cream that mixes some lovely oils with the seaweed blend for a soothing treat for the skin. This is one of those creams that everyone needs to have in their stash, it’s great for any dry patches and can be used day or night time. It is formulated to be suitable for all skin types, it was perfect for my sensitive skin although I would say go gently if you are acne prone as this may be a little too rich. Dry and normal skin types will also love this.

I found this hydrating but easily absorbed and layers well with the facial oil. The oils in the cream are chosen to give a full range of Omega fatty acids 3, 6, 7 and 9 which are excellent for repairing the skin. It has a very slight salty scent from the seaweed but no essential oils or fragrance oils are added which makes it especially good for reactive skins.

The brand uses a high quantity of organic ingredients and are passionate about being environmentally responsible. They use minimum amounts of preservatives, although I do know that the preservative system is something the brand is looking to change, but it can be tricky to keep the seaweed stable. Even so I applaud any brand trying to reformulate as it shows a very high level of dedication.

The only thing I will say is that I couldn’t find any organic certification for the brand, but that would be the absolute icing on the cake because the products are beautiful and very reasonably priced.
