Summer skin – Bronzing oils

With summer on the way in the UK and with my thoughts turning to my own holiday I have been testing a couple of bronzey and shimmery oils to enhance a tan. I don’t consider these essentials in my routine but I do have to admit when you have pale skin like me every little bit of help you can get is welcome. Both of these are beautiful natural oils without silicones and from brands that have great ingredients policies whilst also being suitably luxe. I find these both to be very easy to use for pale skin, they both enhance any existing colour whilst being subtle because let’s be honest no one wants to look like they have been tangoed.

First up we have the Kae Beaute scintillante (£37 for 50 ml)  which is a gorgeous argan based oil. Whilst it is on the pricey side I found this to be perfect for packing for a holiday in the sun. The light weight formula absorbs easily and leaves a subtle sheen that looks great with some colour. If like me you are not a glitter fan do not worry, the glitter particles are small and made of mica rather than micro-plastics which can be harmful to the environment. It is perfect for all over the body and can be used as a hair treatment too, meaning it can take the place in your suitcase of several products and the 50 ml size is perfect if you are only taking carry on luggage. I am always impressed with Kae’s packaging and this is no exception, the glass bottle is eco friendly and the pump is extremely practical. Just like all the other Kae product’s I have tried this smells beautiful, this French brand knows how to make a luxury product!

The second oil I have been testing is the Douvall’s Argan bronzing oil (£32 for 50 ml) which imparts a healthy dose of colour rather than the sheen mentioned above. The formula of this oil is slightly thicker but the pigmentation is spot on, once you have worked it in to the skin it has a gentle warmth that wasn’t there before, but it is still what I would call foolproof and so you don’t need to worry about streaks as you would with fake tan. The gentle orange smell and great ingredients means that you won’t need to use another hydrating body product and it also comes in a smaller trial size so again perfect for packing on your holidays. I found the pippette on this one could get a little messy due to the thicker consistency of the oil, but overall a great product. I am particularly impressed with some of the their eco credentials and commitment to working with women’s cooperatives, always something I value. You can also find Douvall’s in store at Fortnum and Masons and I am looking forward to exploring more from the brand.

For shimmer opt for Kae, for colour for Douvall’s, both great brands I would highly recommend. What will you be packing for your holidays?
