Celebrating 90 years of Weleda Skinfood

When you think of a product that is one hundred percent natural, has achieved cult status in the beauty world and has been around for the last ninety years there is only one possible answer, the beloved and iconic Weleda Skinfood. Introduced in 1926 this classic product is celebrating it’s ninetieth birthday, quite the accomplishment when you think of the sheer number of products and brands and that come and go on a monthly, let alone yearly basis. Skinfood is one of my most loved and repurchased beauty products. I have always had a tube in my stash of products for the last eight years and often I have a back up or two as well so that I don’t run out. Part of the reason I love Skinfood is for it’s versatility, this thick, nourishing cream tackles even the driest of skin anywhere on the body, it’s the perfect overnight foot treatment, hand cream and will soften elbows and knees. If you have particularly dry skin on your face Skinfood is also brilliant when used as a mask and make up primer, I use a very small amount to tackle any dryness before applying my mineral foundation for a smooth canvas. Organic chamomile extract – A perfect addition thanks to it’s soothing abilities on the skin and mind.

The product itself comes housed in a recyclable squeeze tube that ensures all the product can be used, minimising waste. One of it’s best selling points is it’s affordability too, Weleda prove once again that going green doesn’t have to cost the earth! Most creams are oils suspended through an emulsion in water, Weleda Skinfood has a higher percentage of plant oils such as almond oil and sunflower oil, as well as nourishing beeswax and lanolin which gives it the richness and almost balm like texture. Skinfood comes in three handy sizes, the large 75 ml tube costs £9.95, 30 ml is £6.95 and 10 ml travel size is £2.25.
