When I was planning my organic beauty week posts this month I knew I wanted to feature some fantastic organic make up. Lip products are a perfect product to start with if you are new to organic and I have some brilliant options for you for Autumn/winter.
Odylique by Essential care is a family run business, started by Mother and daughter Margaret and Abi Weeds. The brand offers a really wide variety of products for all the family and importantly is one of the few make up brands to carry the Soil Association logo. Margaret had been creating products for over thirty years when in 2003 she teamed up with Abi to create the brand we today know as Odylique. Like most natural and organic beauty brands their story is one of finding a solution for a problem as Abi had troubled skin as a child, you can read more about their story in my Behind the Brand with Odylique post from last years Organic Beauty week.
I have two lipsticks and a lip pencil from the brand, the ethics and ingredients are seriously impressive but so is the formula, shades and wear. Odylique lipsticks have a very high quantity of organic ingredients in their make up and these lipsticks are also free from Bismuth Oxychloride, synthetic dyes, carmine (animal derived pigment) and palm oil. The lipstick packaging is cleverly made from corn and is fully recyclable too.
Odylique Essential care lip liner – Pink (£12.50) This lip liner is a very flattering shade of pink that works really well with the lipsticks. On me it shows as a shade darker than my natural lip colour and has a nice waxy feel to it makes a great base for the colour on top.
Odylique Essential care lipstick – Rose Parfait (£18) Is a very flattering and wearable medium rose pink. The finish on both colours is slightly glossy as you can see below and the pigment can be built to a good medium intensity. For me this is a perfect everyday colour, not too dramatic but gives a polished look. Easy to apply straight from the bullet, but you can use a lip brush if you prefer. I love the nourished feeling you get on the lips thanks to the Fairtrade she butter and oils.
Odylique Essential care lipstick – Raspberry Coulis (£18) A slightly deeper and more berry toned lipstick. When I first tried this I knew that it would be my favourite for Autumn winter. Although I love a really pigmented full on berry lip the reality is that with less time to do my make up these days a colour like this is much easier to wear and reapply. You could also make it slightly more dramatic with a darker lip liner underneath.
I just love Odylique’s lip products, the ingredients, ethics and quality makes them well worth the money and quite underrated I think. A fabulous British brand to support this organic beauty week, you can order Internationally with free shipping from Love Lula. Have you tried Odylique’s make up?
