I have an exciting new brand to share with you today. Introducing  the Scienea serums, the brand has recently launched on to the  natural beauty market and is brought to you by Amphora Aromatics, specialists in aromatherapy products and botanical ingredients. The first products to launch are two high quality natural, oil based serums.

I was instantly attracted to the Scienea packaging, it is elegant thanks to the black miron glass bottles but the touch of colour on the bottles helps them stand out from other products in my cabinet. Scienea have launched with two potent oil based serums, the perfect addition to any skincare routine, each of the serums has a wonderful mix of natural ingredients chosen for their efficacy.

I have been incredibly impressed with these serums, the well thought out ingredients lists are heaven for anyone who loves natural ingredients. There are no fillers involved, just pure active ingredients and Scienea have really made sure each serum is a blend of interesting and effective botanicals.

Two years of research has gone in to making these serums results driven as well as a pleasure to use. Woody Evans the Director of Scienea says:

“We’ve spent two years research and developing these 100% natural, deeply penetrating facial serums to address specific skincare concerns – from boosting elasticity and texture to helping reduce wrinkles and “crow’s feet” – Leaving skin feeling radiant and hydrated. Each of our hardworking treatments contains clinically proven ingredients to really make a visible difference to skin and help restore a youthful complexion naturally”

Scienea Super fruit (anti-ageing) serum (£30 for 20 ml) – A vitamin and anti-oxidant rich blend of plant oils and extracts designed to target the first signs of ageing such as fine lines and pigmentation. There are so many gorgeous ingredients packed in to this bottle, the serum has a light texture, absorbs easily and has and beautiful golden colour.

I love to use this serum at night combined with a facial massage. You can feel the botanicals get to work on the skin, giving immediately improving radiance leaving a silky feel to the skin. In the morning skin looks well rested and bright. I find two pumps the perfect amount to cover face, neck and I will sometimes use another pump on my décolleté as an extra treat.

The ingredients are all nourishing, softening and feel wonderful on the skin. The serum has a fresh zesty scent thanks to the lemon myrtle essential oil. Although I am not trying to personally target wrinkles or other particular skin concerns, I am keen to use products that have a preventative effect and the ingredients in this blend are perfectly nourishing.

Squalane – An ingredient naturally present in the skin, is perfect for all skin types including sensitive.
Marula oil – Rich in fatty acids and perfect for reducing redness and irritation.
Pomegranate seed oil – Packed with anti-oxidants and helps to regenerate the skin.
Prickly pear seed oil – Brilliant for neutralising free radicals and rich in vitamins E and K.

Other ingredients:
Marula Oil, Pomegrante Oil, Apricot Oil, Squalene, Rosehip Oil, Sunflower, Flax Seed Oil, Gold Of Pleasure Oil, Rasberry Oil, Pumpkin Oil, Borage Oil, Strawberry Oil, Acai Berry Seed Oil, Prickly Pear Oil, Spilanthes extract, Green Rooibos, Black tea extract, White Tea Extract, Rose Oil, Fennel Oil, Lemon Myrtle Oil, Palmarosa Oil.

Scienea Superberry serum (£30 for 20 ml) – Is brilliant serum for easily irritated and sensitive skin. It feels calming, soothing and nurturing but without the heaviness associated with thick and rich creams. The Superberry serum has a very light, delicate floral scent. This gorgeous blend quickly became a new favourite, I find it especially useful to take down redness and rebalance the skin after clay masks and exfoliating treatments, but it plumps and nourishes the skin morning or night. Superberry is a great option for skin that struggles to find harmony and that reacts to more aggressive treatments.

A Wonderful treat for delicate, mature or simply skin needing extra nourishment. The Superberry serum works wonderfully as a night time treatment by itself or layered with other serums and moisturisers. One or two pumps is the perfect amount on slightly damp skin, I like to use a spritz toner before all oil based treatments as it makes a big difference to how the product absorbs. As you can see the ingredients all gently support the skin whilst also nourishing and calming.

Acai fruit oil – High in anti-oxidants and helps to give skin a wonderful glow.

Baobab oil – Full of fatty acids Omega 3, 6 and 9, can help to restore skin barrier function.

Cherry seed oil – Packed with natural vitamins E and A.

Cranberry seed oil – Particularly helpful for itchy and dry skin.

Other ingredients:

Acai fruit oil, Squalane, Baobab oil, Blackberry oil, Jojoba oil, Evening primrose oil, sunflower oil, cranberry seed oil, cherry seed oil, argan oil, lupin, Orange oil, grapefruit oil, Rose oil.

Both the Scienea serums are a really gorgeous addition to my skincare routine. The formulas have been well thought out to produce both short term and longer benefits for the skin. You can combine with other serums and creams, as a general rule of thumb apply products from lightest to heaviest for the best results. With the winter months on their way on oil based serum is a fantastic addition to your routine and help keep dryness and sensitivity at bay.

The lovely packaging of the serums makes them a great gift option. Each serum contains a sample sachet of the other serum for you to try inside, a nice touch that I haven’t seen from any other brands before.

The Scienea serums offer purity of ingredients and gorgeous results on the skin. Both are highly recommended and they offer fantastic value for money. Have you tried these serums? Spot any of your favourite ingredients?
