Natural, Organic and Cruelty free Beauty boxes – Tried and Tested

Years after they first launched, beauty boxes are now everywhere. The choice available is huge, compared to what it was just a few years back and the biggest change has been that there are now a variety of beauty boxes catering to beauty lovers who want natural, organic, cruelty free or vegan options. I have reviewed a fair amount of beauty boxes on this blog, some I receive regularly to share with you, others I receive as a one off, so I thought it would be useful to do a comparison post of what each box is offering.

Love Lula Beauty box

How often? – Monthly

Cost – From £13.95 per month, different prices depending on length of subscription.

Where? – International option available.

Natural/Organic/Cruelty free/Vegan? – With love Lula you get a mix of natural and/or organic brands. They state they only stock cruelty free companies on their website but it is worth noting some of the brands currently have non cruelty free parent companies. Some of the items will be suitable for vegans, but they cannot guarantee a totally vegan box.

What do you get? – It doesn’t state on the Love Lula website a set amount of samples or full sizes, but my experience is you usually get a good mix of products in these boxes. I have fond memories of the Love Lula box, because this was the first natural beauty box that I subscribed to and ordered their first ever box (back when they were still Amarya!). The boxes have changed quite a bit since then, but I do think these boxes are good value for money and especially good for anyone just starting to delve in to the world of natural beauty. The main downside to these boxes in my opinion, is that they tend to feature similar brands/products every month, so after a while regular subscribers won’t find them as exciting to receive. If you fall in love with any of the products in your box you can get 20% off discount code included in the box for purchases within that month.

Natural Beauty Box

How often? – Monthly

Cost – From £24.95 per month, discounts available on prepaid subscriptions of 3/6 months.

Where? – UK with International options available as well.

Natural/Organic/Cruelty free/Vegan? – The box features lots of smaller artisan brands and promises to only feature vegan brands that are also natural and/or organic. The box also only features brands that are cruelty free, although not all the brands will have a certification to prove this.

What do you get? – They say you are guaranteed to get five or six products worth at least £50 and they are generally a nice mix of full and deluxe trial sizes. I have received two of these boxes and I felt you got some fantastic brands and they were great value for money. They like to champion  independent British brands too, so a nice one to support I think.

Skin Organics Beauty box

How often? – Monthly

Cost – From £21 plus £3.95 p&p. There are pay monthly or prepaid subscriptions for 3/6 months.

Natural/Organic/Cruelty free/Vegan? – Natural and organic products included with an option to have a purely vegan subscription box should you choose.

Where? – UK and Europe.

What do you get? – Includes five products per month and a mix of more well known and niche brands. The site has a list of ingredients not included in the products and they are also all cruelty free. Products are a mix of full and trial sizes, the boxes I have received and seen have a really nice mix of products and brands and are great value for money. A nice subscription if you want to be introduced to a variety of different brands and products and if you love niche beauty, this box has great variety and quality.

Little Known box

Little Known box

How often? – Monthly

Cost – From £14.95 per month with £3.95 p&p. There are options for monthly or prepaid 3/6 month subscriptions as well as one of boxes on occasions.

Natural/Organic/Cruelty free/Vegan? – Unlike the other subscriptions featured Little Known box is focused on niche and upcoming brands, many are natural and organic but this is not guaranteed. All of the products are cruelty free and they have launched a separate vegan edition too.

Where? – UK.

What do you get? – You will receive 5-6 products per month which will be a mix of full and trial sizes. They also feature lifestyle items, so something a little bit different. If the brand featured is more well known, it will be the product itself which will be a new launch or “lesser known”. I really enjoyed the box I received and I seen some really fantastic brands and products featured, this is a nice one if you like natural and organic, but mainly want cruelty free and are happy to get a variety of surprises.

Boxwalla beauty box

Boxwalla Beauty box

How often? – Bi-monthly

Cost? – From $49.95 and ships free within the US. Options for automatic renewal or gift prepaid subscriptions as well as one off boxes available for some editions.

Where? – Based in the US, ships internationally.

Natural/Organic/Cruelty free/Vegan? – All of the brands featured are natural and organic with strict ingredient standards, many of the products are also vegan, but the box does include some products with beeswax. All the brands are cruelty free.

What do you get? – This box is very different from the others because it focuses on less products, but they are very high end green beauty brands of high value, you generally get two to three products per month and these are full sizes or generous trial sizes. Boxwalla features really interesting brands from all over the world, making it perfect for beauty junkies, I personally love that some of the brands featured are hard to get in the UK, making receiving it all the more special. I have said it before but this is my all time favourite beauty box, because it has introduced me to so many brands/products that I have fallen in love with.

If you are looking for one off boxes, take a look at my interview with Rebecca from Pure Natural box, who does quarterly one off boxes that I am a big fan of. This isn’t an exhaustive list; there are other beauty boxes on the market and I have tried some of them but these are the ones that I have tried, tested and enjoyed. Do you subscribe to any of these beauty boxes? Which is your favourite?
