ByBi have been taking the beauty world by storm, it is fabulous to see a natural and vegan brand become so widely available. You can now find the products at ASOS, Beautymart and Anthropologie to name a few of their stockists. If you don’t know ByBi, it stands for By Beauty Insiders and was founded by entrepreneurs Elsie and Dominika. You can see my thoughts on some of the other products in the range here, it is a really nice selection that has a fun edge to it. They are also behind one of my favourite DIY beauty books, which I talked about in my Books for natural beauty lovers post.
The two latest launches are a lip scrub and a lip balm. These arrived with the sweetest packet of personalised love hearts, which have obviously long been eaten. A lot of natural lip balms and lip scrubs on the market will contain beeswax, so therefore aren’t vegan friendly, so ByBi stand out to me for that reason. The squeeze tubes are made from sugarcane, even though they look identical to plastic so are bio-degradable and can be composting in industrial facilities if you have those near you.
Buffer lip scrub – (£9) I have a terrible habit of biting my lips at the minimum hint of dryness, so a lip scrub has actually become a staple product for me. They are really quite easy to DIY, but I don’t always have the time, so it is nice to have one like this where all the work is done for you. I can also imagine that having a lip scrub in a convenient tube like will also be very handy for make up artists and anyone travelling. It is a sugar scrub, but isn’t too thick or too heavy. The base is shea butter with almond oil and strawberry extract. It works incredibly well, far more than I could of imagined and leaves lip much softer and smoother than when you started. You can taste the cinnamon oil when you take it off your lips and it is lovely to use.
Plumper Lip balm – (£9) This lip balm works to moisturise the lips but also as a subtle gloss over lipstick. Like many of the other vegan balms I have tried the texture is slightly thinner compared to its non-vegan counterparts, but it has a stellar ingredients list. Grapeseed oil and shea butter and fruit waxes nourish and hydrate, whilst the balm has a nice fresh minty flavour from the peppermint essential oil.
You can pick these products up separately or together as a duo which is more affordable. You can shop ByBi on their own website, or some of my favourites like Content Beauty* and Glow Organic*. Have you tried ByBi?
