Boxwalla – The Chronicles of a plant lab

April Boxwalla Beauty box

I can’t believe it is Boxwalla beauty box time again! Time is just flying. I was able to try the products a little bit earlier than normal this month and it is such an interesting mix. This months theme is Chronicles of a plant lab and features two full sized products from the brand Twelve Beauty. Twelve has featured before in the Wandering Woman’s English spring, with the ideal moisture serum. The brand is founded by Pedro Catala, who has one of the most remarkable CV’s in the natural beauty space. Trained in pharmacy, botany and cosmetology, Pedro used his extensive knowledge of natural ingredients to create Twelve beauty.

Twelve is a brand that I have wanted to explore further for some time now, Pedro’s knowledge and skin friendly formulations make the brand a really interesting one. Inside the April box you will find:

The London Mask – Only fifty of these beautiful masks are made each month, because the formula is incredibly labour intensive to make. This mask is designed to combat skin damage from pollution, perfect for anyone living in urban environments. This mask suits stressed, sensitised and dehydrated skins. Although this is a clay based mask, using gentle kaolin, it is infused with wonderful hydrating and nurturing ingredients such as squalane, mallow and cucumber extract. I have used these mask quite a few times since I have received it, I love the creamy and nurturing texture. When I first tried the London mask, I was suffering with a small rosacea flare on my cheeks, stress and illness had definitely taken its toll. I left the mask on for around half an hour, it is very soothing upon application and it doesn’t set hard, so you don’t have to worry about how long you keep it on for. The first thing I noticed when I removed the mask was how the angry red bumps on my skin had been calmed and soothed and redness dramatically reduced. My skin was also much better behaved than usual for the following days. Because of the creamy consistency it is an easy mask to apply and remove and you can feel the effects from even a light application.

Twelve Beauty - Boxwalla

Ideal Brightening corrective serum – Twelve Beauty have a total of three serums in the range, the ideal brightening corrective serum is aimed that people with hyperpigmentation, including age spots and acne scars. Although I don’t break out often anymore, I do get a monthly break out on my skin which unhappily for me. hangs around for the rest of the month in the form of a red mark. Although I haven’t seen the immediate results with the serum that I have with the mask, I am really impressed with the texture and feel of the serum. When you use Twelve beauty products you can immediately tell these are products with a sophisticated formula, something some natural brands lack. It layers well with other products and I it is one I will update you on when I have had a chance to use it for longer.

The April boxes are still available as an a one off purchase and there is also an  Al a carte section on the website now, where you can shop selected Twelve products including the Hyaluroil lip treatment, which is next on my list to try. As usual these boxes are amazing value for money and sell quickly. Shop all one time Boxwalla purchases – here*.
