Organic Beauty and Wellbeing week 2018 – What I’m made of Campaign

Soil Association Organic beauty and wellbeing week

This week is organic beauty and wellbeing week, an initiative by the Soil Association, the UK’s largest organic certification body to spread the word about the benefits of organic beauty and some of the wonderful brands that carry their certification. The Soil association certify food and textiles as well as beauty.

The organic beauty sector is growing rapidly, with sales up 37% over the last two years, but confusion around what organic beauty really means as well as the lack of regulation around the term organic in cosmetics means that in some cases people think they are shopping genuine organic beauty, when in fact it is no more than clever marketing. To read more about different types of organic certifications and what these logos mean see my guide to organic cosmetics.

Soil Association organic logo

This year the Soil Association are sharing their “What I’m made of” campaign, to really show the provenance and transparency of the products certified with the Soil Association organic logo. When products carry the Soil Association organic logo, you know the ingredients and standards are all approved by the Soil Association, this third party verification is an easy way for consumers to know that what they are getting is truly organic. The standards cover the ingredients brands are allowed to use in their product as well as packaging and tracing of the supply chain.

The Soil Association will be hosting a pop up this weekend at the Hoxton Holborn hotel. The pop-up will feature hair consultations, beauty treatments, wellbeing workshops and formulation stations so you can experience some of the amazing organic brands on the market. Some of the brands taking part will be Pai Skincare, Pukka Herbs, Therapi and La Eva.
